Service Opportunities
Friedens members are always looking for opportunities to serve others in the church and in the community at large. Below are listed some current needs. If you know of other ways to help, call the church office at (262) 284-2471.
In the Church
- Volunteers are needed for Friedens Sunday School and Awana programs for children. Commitments can be as short as for two weeks. Call Greg Blamer at (262) 268-9124 for more information.
- Friedens Men’s Ministry is looking for opportunities to help the elderly, single moms and others with yard work or home repairs. If you know someone who could use a little help around the house, call Gary Schlenvogt, (262) 692-6446.
- Volunteers are needed to help with yard work around the church. Call Gary Zirbes, 284-4697, or John Haack, 268-1535, for more information or to volunteer.
- Volunteers are needed to fold bulletins each week. There are other opportunities to help around the church office too. For more information, call 284-2471.
- Do you like to bake or prepare treats? Bring your goodies Sunday morning to the Connections Cafe in Fellowship Hall and share with others. Call Bill and Shirly Paape for more information at 284-0390.
- Volunteers are needed for the sound and media ministry. Call 284-2471.
- People interested in the mission work of the church are needed to help correspond with missionaries, pray for missionaries, plan mission trips and visitations and more. For more information, call the church office at 284-2471.
In the Community
- Many seniors or disabled people could use help with chores around the house. If you’d like to help, contact Interfaith Caregivers of Ozaukee County, (262) 284-7130, or Ozaukee Family Services, (262) 376-7774.
- MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) can use help with its childcare program — known as MOPPETS — during their meetings on the first and third Tuesday of each month. For more information, call Anne Thomas at (262) 377-2330.
- Donate food to the Port Washington Food Pantry by dropping items in the shopping cart in Fellowship Hall at church. If you know someone who needs assistance, call the church office at (262) 284-2471.
- Looking for an opportunity to volunteer in the community, contact the Volunteer Center of Ozaukee County.
