God began His work at what would become Camp of the Woods in the heart of one man. In 1965, Garland and Reba Cofield and their young family moved to northern Ontario, a land of lakes, trees and long, cold winters. In their hearts was a dream to build a ministry that would bring the Word of God to the people of this bush country. Beginning with only an ax, a tent, and a borrowed horse, work commenced to make the dream take shape. What was once bush and swamp has now been transformed into the beautiful and rustic complex known as Camp of the Woods. With its own 3000' airstrip, Camp of the Woods extends its influence across the north. The purpose of all endeavors is to lead people to Christ and establish them in the fellowship of other believers in local churches.

When God raises up a work, He confirms it with evidence of His power. God has consistently demonstrated His hand upon this ministry. Many lives, young and old, have been transformed by the grace of God. Support for Camp of the Woods comes from voluntary gifts of friends and churches. The staff has committed their lives as servants for Christ.
