The Modern Warrior

Personal body armor is essential for the modem warrior. Science is developing Liquid Armor Protection that can be applied to Kevlar, which is, the trademark for a reinforcing material used in bulletproof vests and tires. When the new liquid body armor is applied to the fabric, it doesn't change in appearance; however, it becomes extremely stronger. In addition to the material a soldier of the future could be wearing a form-fitting suit that would be made through the wonder of nanotechnology, which involves manipulating atoms and molecules to create things at a scale about 50,000 times smaller than the diameter of a strand of hair. Soldiers wearing the suit would have the ability to blend into any environment, like chameleons. The new helmets will have a tiny video camera that will provide a 360-degree situational awareness. A series of sensors gives the solider three-dimensional hearing and the ability to amplify specific sounds, while lowering the volume of others. He will have the ability of night vision; maps built into the helmet that can be projected on the inside of the visor. All these new and improved concepts will be voice activated; this is called Excellence in Research.

The Spiritual Warrior

"Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand" (Eph. 6:11, 13). "The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light" (Ro. 13:12). "In truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left" (2Co. 6:7).

The Battle

As a believer in Christ we are commanded to put on the entire protective armor that God has provided. Notice that we are to put on full armor of God. We are also commanded to put on the armor of light and the armor of righteousness. Unlike the modem solider who must fight a physical enemy, the believer's warfare is against the spiritual world of darkness and unrighteousness. Remember that people are not our enemies, Satan is our adversary. People have been captured by him and they need to be rescued with pity and compassion. The battle that every believer must fight can be a winning one when properly dressed for the occasion. The modern warrior needs science to assist in his victory; believers have the victory in Christ. John puts it this way: "Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God" (1 John 5:5). So when confronting the unsaved we can tell them that they, in fact, are defenseless against God. Satan is out to get every believer. We are to face every situation with courage and strength in the power of the indwelling Christ. This is what the Scriptures means when it says that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Please make a note of this, there is no armor for your back side. If, perhaps, you decide to run from the conflict, you leave your backside exposed. The Church is being built by Christ and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. The church is not standing still; it is marching forward into battle to claim the victory that we have in Christ. Never give up, never look back and never stop doing right. Some ones' eternity may depend on you to fight the good fight of faith. Submit to God and resist the devil and he will flee from you. Follow after righteousness and the good examples of those who have completed their course.
