Christmas, 2004
Long Ago, A Birth Was Foretold
The coming of the world's Savior was foretold thousands of years before his coming. It's said that Jesus fulfilled more than 300 prophecies made about him in the Old Testament. Take some time this Christmas season and read these ancient writings:
Promise Where Fulfilled - He would be descended from Abraham. Genesis. 12:3 Matthew 1:1 - He would be descended from David. Isaiah 9:7 Luke 1:31-32 - He would be of the tribe of Judah. Genesis. 49:10 Luke 3:3 - He would be born in Bethlehem. Micah 5:2 Matthew 2:1 - He would be born of a virgin. Isaiah 7:14 Matthew 1:18 - He would be sent to the needy Isaiah 61:1-2 Luke 4:16-21
Read The Bible In 2005
Join with other members of the Friedens family in committing to reading the entire Bible in 2005. Each day's readings take only 15 to 30 minutes to complete and contains a reading from the Old Testament and the New Testament. To help, a weblog, or "blog," has been set up that will contain each day's readings, plus a few extras. One feature of the site allows you to ask questions, share thoughts and discuss what you are reading and learning with others. There also are links to Bible study tools, devotionals and other helps. The reading plan doesn't begin officially until Saturday, Jan. 1, but you can begin now. A list of readings will be included in the monthly Friedensbote and in a handout at the information table in Fellowship Hall, as well as each week in the FriedensNote. Visit the website, and be sure to bookmark it and visit it each day.
- Sunday Haggai; Revelation 17 - Monday Zechariah 1-4; Revelation 18 - Tuesday Zechariah 5-8; Revelation 19 - Wednesday Zechariah 9-12; Revelation 20 - Thursday Zechariah 13-14; Revelation 21 - Friday Malachi; Revelation 22 - Saturday Genesis 1-3; Matthew 1

The Greatest Gift
God (the greatest Lover) so loved (the greatest degree) the world (the greatest number) that he gave (the greatest act) his only begotten son (the greatest Gift) that whosoever (the greatest invitation) believes (the greatest simplicity) in Him (the greatest Person) should not perish (the greatest deliverance) but (the greatest difference) have (the greatest certainty) everlasting life (the greatest possession). - John 3:16.
Help for the Hurting
Do you know someone with a heavy heart this Christmas, but you're not sure what you can do? Read "Help for the Holidays" for some advice on how to help.
Why Jesus is Better than Santa Claus
Pastor Mark made mention on a recent Sunday of this article that has made the rounds on the Internet for years. "Why Jesus is Better than Santa Claus" features an appropriate musical background with a creative piece of art depicting Santa kneeling at the manger. Share this message with friends.
