Big-Screen 'Passion'

If you or someone you know missed the movie, "The Passion of the Christ," on the big screen, well here's your chance. "Passion" will be shown in Fellowship Hall at Friedens at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 3. Admission is free, but bring a non-perishable food item for the Food Pantry. Also bring a friend. A discussion group on the film will start the following Sunday. Call Dave or Karen Wetzel at 285-3255 for more information.

News from Eastern Europe

Missionaries Jack Stockdale and Sasha Zubenko will visit Friedens next Sunday and share what God is doing in Eastern Europe. Jack is leading a church in Poznan, Poland, which he started with the help of Don and Theresa Zahurance. Jack also helps oversee outreach efforts in other cities, including Kiev, Ukraine, where Sasha is serving the Lord. Plan to attend and bring a friend.

The Art of Conversation

Children need thoughtful instruction on how to engage in an effective "spoken exchange of thoughts, opinions and feelings," otherwise known as conversation. http://www.crosswalk.com/family/home_school/1277573.html.

Perspective Whiplash

It's easy to make snap judgments about people from their appearance, their job, their education. But God sees them with complex personalities, histories, desires and fears – with an eternal perspective that is so much more colorful and interesting. http://www.theooze.com/articles/article.cfm?id=909

The Gift of Unanswered Prayer

We pray not only as saints but also as sinners, very much inclined to use prayer to advance our own selfish interests. Sometimes God's "no" is exactly what we need. Go to http://www.christianitytoday.com/tc/2004/004/22.58.html

Vote Your Values

Need help understanding the candidates and the issues. Here are some websites with an evangelical perspective that can help: www.family.org, www.reclaimamerica.org, www.citizenlink.org, www.faithandfamily.com, and www.frc.org. Websites that offer candidates' positions on issues include, www.presidentmatch.com, www.foxnews.com, and www.vote-smart.org.

Embracing the Move of God

Moses didn't ask God to bless him in his work. He wanted to work where God was blessing. Can you see the difference? http://www.kairos-la.net/text.asp?id=11
