Time to Reflect and Remember
To mark the third anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, Gospelcom.net offers a commemorative site where you can find many tragedy-related resources, including articles of Christian solace to survivors of any crisis. Go to, http://www.gospelcom.net/content/911/. Also, visit the "Remember The Blood of Heroes" site, a slow-moving but gripping flash presentation (which may be too intense for children) at http://members.cox.net/classicweb/Heroes/heroes.htm.
Ready for Your Close Up?
A new church directory is being put together and you and your family should be in it. You don't have to be a member and you get a free 8x11 portrait free and a place in the directory just for showing up. You'll also have an opportunity to purchase prints. Dates and times for pictures are 3 to 9 p.m. on Sept. 30, Oct. 1 and Oct. 11, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 2. Sign up in Memorial Hall.
Growth Groups Get Going
Growth Groups are forming, including four at 9:15 on Sundays between morning worship services. The four groups are:
- "40 Days of Purpose" led by Alex and Doris Noster;
- "Terrorism, Islam and the Jews: A Biblical Perspective" led by Pastor Don Zahurance;
- "I Timothy: Living Within God's Household" led by Doris Feider-Schlenvogt, and
- "Old Testament Survey" led by Dan Benson.
Why a Follower Of Jesus?
"What's your religion?" a man was asked. "My religion is bass fishing, but my relationship is with Jesus," the man answered. Do you have religion, but lack relationship? Want one?
God Goes to the Movies
A new genre of Web sites and the pastors who use them believe God can be found at the movies. Sites like Movieministry.com, HollywoodJesus.com and Reelspirituality.org. Free Ticket
Be a Mother, Find Your Self
"We discover our vocation at the intersection of our own deep gladness and the world's deep hunger. This is the place of the seed, the soil that grows a mother. This is the work that never stops making more of us, that begins to make even the impossible seem possible." http://www.boundless.org/features/a0000925.html
Going Public
Traditional methods of evangelism often aggressive and non-relational don't translate well in the workplace or within family settings. "Some of the old gospel-sharing methods are unwise, if not flat-out unethical," say the authors of the how-to book, "Going Public with Your Faith" (Zondervan; $14.99). What's an evangelical to do?
