Wait for It
Once there were two sisters. Their brother died unexpectedly. "Why did you let this happen?" they asked God. "You could have prevented it." But God said, "This happened for God's glory, so that the Son may be glorified" (John 11). Many times things happen in a way we don't understand, or events turn a direction we would not prefer. And many times, that causes us to despair, to complain, to lose faith. But if we would only wait, we'd see it is God at work and the end result is his glory and our blessing. As Isaiah said, "They who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength" (Isaiah 40:31).
'Lava Lava Island' Erupts this Week
Vacation Bible School, whose theme is "Lava Lava Island: Where Jesus' Love Flows," will be held this week from 8:30 to noon, Monday through Friday for children age 4 through 5th grade. Organizers are expecting the largest VBS class ever, but there's still room for more if your children or those of a neighbor or friend would like to attend. More volunteers also are needed. VBS is free. Call Pam Landon for more information at 284-5916.

The Friedens Family grew by two in recent days as Abigail Elise Rowley was born to Erin and Monica Rowley and Joshua Paul Kato was born to our youth pastor, Mark Kato, and his wife, Kathy.
Reagan's Faith
"My father is a godly man," wrote Michael Reagan, son of President Ronald Reagan. "He loves God. When he decided to run for president, he didn't do it to raise himself up, to be admired, or to have others think he was great. ... He did it out of duty. He thought God had called him to run for president." For anyone interested in exploring the former president's spiritual life, there are a handful of recently published books available. http://www.crosswalk.com/faith/1266772.html
