What is Success? (Mike Sherman Part 2)
More from a recent address by Green Bay Packers Coach Mike Sherman given at Concordia University in Mequon on becoming a better man:
- "Always speak the truth." He has a 30-second rule for his subordinates: They have to explain their point in 30 seconds or less.
- "Tell me what you think," he said. "Keep learning. Once you think you have it figured out, you don't."
- "Build relationships. When the Lord calls you home, and you're on your death bed, how you've touched people with your life is all that will really matter."
- "Pay attention to detail." The crown of the Statue of Liberty contains as much detail as the rest of the statue even though it can only be seen from an airplance, which was not invented when it was made.
- "Give more than you take."
- "Don't run from conflict or adversity. Face it head on and deal with it."
- "Seek spiritual growth. Ask yourself, Who do you want to be, not, What do you want to do? Write it down and look at it every day. If you know who you are, the 'What' will work itself out. Adversity is inevitable and it will drag you down if you don't know who you are."
Summer Schedule Starts
Next weekend, June 5 and 6, will mark the beginning of Friedens summer worship schedule. Saturday service will be at 5:00 p.m. Sunday worship will be at 9:00 a.m. Child care is available at both services.
Don't Be Left Out

Continuing with 'Purpose'
Want to keep meeting with your "40 Days of Purpose" group and looking for material to study and discuss or things to do? Have an idea for a new discussion group and looking for like-minded individuals? Check with Pastor Don. He has a list of potential discussion group studies, service projects and other activities that may interest you and your group members.
Are Your 'Decks' Clear?
In the Navy, when it's time to go to war, the commanding officer calls out, "Clear the decks. Ready for action." Are your decks clear as a Christian? Are you ready for action? Read more
Starbucks Spirituality
"Three years ago my 16-year-old daughter was raped and murdered. Tell me, what kind of God would let that happen? I believe in God. I just have a real problem with him." How would you respond to that woman. To do so effectively, you have to answer three questions.

Wanted: Failures
By most objective standards, God used a lot of failures in the Bible. Their one abiding attribute, however, at which they were successful, was focusing on God and letting him take care of the details. Read about it.
