Wazzup?

Things to mark on your calendar:

New Classes

New adult classes are starting up but there's still time to join in. The new classes, held at 9:15 a.m. Sundays between worship services, are "Personal Evangelism" taught by Pastor Don, "New Testament Survey" taught by Dan Benson and "The ABCs of Bible Study" taught by Doris Feider Schlenvogt. And don't forget, there's a men's Bible study at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays at church led by Mike Bendt, a women's discussion group at 9:30 a.m. at church led by Theresa Zahurance and Marci Ferrell and a recovery discussion group at 8 p.m. Tuesdays at the church led by Lee and Dyane and Sloane. Talk to the teachers for more info or give the church office a call.

New Addresses

Both Pastor Marks have new addresses. Please make a note:

Volunteers Needed

Friedens can expect a crowded church this Christmas season, which means volunteers are needed to help make visitors welcome. Needs include:

Make A Difference

A number of groups need our help this holiday season, either financially or by volunteering. Many members of Friedens already make it a regular practice of contributing to several area non-profit agencies. These include the Milwaukee Rescue Mission, CareNet Pregnancy Center, the Salvation Army, Gideons, the Food Pantry, Interfaith Caregivers and Kids 'N' The Hood. You can find more information about these groups by visiting the information table in Fellowship Hall and taking home one of their brochures.

Making 'Spiritual Champions'

In his new book, "Transforming Your Children Into Spiritual Champions," researcher George Barna says that after years of research, he found:

Why Johnny Can't Share His Faith

Is Bible verse memorization a forgotten art? It appears so. Dave Cook believes that we have forgotten the value of scripture memorization. His article "Why Johnny Can't Share His Faith" focuses on new ways of doing this and why it is so important, not just for us, but for those we love: http://www.heartlight.org/articles/200311/20031105_sharefaith.html.

Where Does Spam Come From?

Mainly from your email address posted online, according to recent research. This detailed study shows how your email address can be grabbed, and how to avoid it. For situations where you need to post your address online (bulletin boards, etc) it is wise to create a separate address (e.g. Yahoo) which you can abandon if it gets too much spam. For more info, go to: http://www.cdt.org/speech/spam/030319spamreport.shtml.

So What Did Jesus Do?

It's popular nowadays to ask ourselves "What Would Jesus Do?" Perhaps we should study what He really did do: http://www.christianitytoday.com/cr/2003/005/12.40.html.
