Holiday Doings

Lots going on at Friedens this holiday season:

Did You Miss Out?

Did you miss the recent membership seminar, which was attended by more than a dozen people? Don't worry. Just call Associate Pastor Don Zahurance at 284-2471 and set up an appointment to go over the information and get your questions answered.

God Knows What It's Like To Be A Teenager

God's Word is intensely relevant to the concerns of teenagers. The problem is we sometimes don't do a good job of showing them that. Now there's a book to help teens see just how relevant God and His Word are to their lives: "God Knows What It's Like to be a Teenager" by Mark Marshall. The book points out the overlooked truth that Jesus not only knows what it's like to be a teenager, He's been there! Marshall uses the Psalms with all their ups and downs to look at teen life with all its ups and downs. Go to http://www.godknows99.com/.

It's National Bible Week

The week of Nov. 23 is National Bible Week, a time when Christians are encouraged to pull their Bibles off the bookshelf and spend time re-familiarizing themselves with its stories and teachings. Here are links to some articles by David Sanford, Charles Colson and others about how the commemoration got started and other notes: · · ·

The Friedens web site also has Bible helps for you. Visit our Resources page to find links to devotionals, Bible study tools and reading plans.

Enter 'The Matrix'

The vastly popular "Matrix" trilogy of films – the third of which, "Revolutions," is now in theaters – has "probably generated more philosophical discussion than any," according to one author, among the 12-to-30-year-old set, tackling as it does questions of purpose, choice, destiny and the need for a Savior. There is therefore a God-given starting point for discussion of spiritual issues. Read more on the Neo/Christ Parallels at:
