Join The Huddle
Next year is just around the corner and in the life of the church that means preparing new budgets, forming new committees, lining up volunteers for a myriad of tasks and all sorts of other exciting things. There's a place and a need for you. Check the Sunday bulletin, stop by the information table in the west foyer or call the church office, 284-2471 for more information.
Get Yourself Ready
The Women's Ministry is sponsoring a Monday night workshop called "Getting YOU Ready for the Holidays." There will be a hair stylist, nail artist, makeup consultant and home decorator on hand to give you tips on getting ready for the holidays. It's free and will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, at the church. Call Debt Bendt for more info, 284-5499. Bring a friend.
Happy Anniversary
Next year, 2004, will be the Friedens Family's 150th anniversary. How time flies, eh? A planning committee has been formed to help prepare for the different festivities. You can find details on what the committee has come up with so far by reading the November Friedensbote, copies of which are available at the information table. If you'd like to get involved, the committee's next meeting is 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 11. Call Doris Feider-Schlenvogt for more information at 692-6446.
Speaking Of Anniversaries
Earl and Arlene Schlenvogt are celebrating their 60th. Nancy and Jesse Mueller have an anniversary this week, as well. Wish them a happy one!
Christian Recovery
Are you or someone you know recovering from alcoholism, drug addiction or other addictive behavior. Help is here. A Christian Recover Group meets at Friedens at 8 p.m. each Tuesday. Lee and Dyane Sloane lead the support group. Contact them at 387-1526.
What's Morally Acceptable?
What's Morally Acceptable? Christian researcher George Barna evaluated 10 moral behaviors and found that Americans believe there are three activities that are "morally acceptable" gambling (61%), co-habitation (60%), and sexual fantasies (59%). Nearly half felt two others also were abortion (45%) and a sexual relationship outside marriage (42%). About one-third gave an OK to pornography (38%), profanity (36%), drunkenness (35%) and homosexual sex (30%). The activity that garnered the least support was using non-prescription drugs (17%). Pray For Our Pastors
Our pastors play an important role in our lives, according to the Scriptures. "Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you." (Hebrews 13:17). Pray for Friedens' spiritual leaders, that they would be growing in these Biblical leadership qualities, each of which were exemplified by Jesus (Thanks to Deb Bendt for the reminder):
- Faith like Abraham Romans 4:18-21
- Wisdom like Joseph Genesis 41:33-39
- Meekness of Moses Numbers 12:3, 7b-8

- Perseverance like Job James 5:11
- Integrity like Daniel Daniel 1:8
- Servant heart like Mary Luke 1:38
