Have Questions? We Got Answers
Are you or someone you know curious about becoming a member of Friedens Church? Then make sure to attend, or invite your friend, to the Friedens Membership Seminar from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 8. RSVP is required. Call the church office at 284-2471.
Helping Those In Need
Friedens members as a congregation and as individuals support a number of worthy ministries in the Ozaukee County area as well as throughout metro Milwaukee. These include Care Net Pregnancy Center, Milwaukee Rescue Mission, Food Pantry, Interfaith Caregivers and KidZntheHood (did you hear the Godseys' interview on Focus on the Family?). These ministries are in continuous need for volunteers and financial support. Literature for these programs is available at the Welcome Center in Fellowship Hall. If you don't have time to volunteer, perhaps you can remember to send them a check whenever it's bill-paying time.
Luther Film Praised
The new film based on Luther's life and his break from the Roman Catholic Church tells the story well and is getting some rave reviews. Go to http://christianitytoday.com/ct/2003/138/51.0.html. For in interview with the director, go to http://www.hollywoodjesus.com/luther.htm.
Trick Or Treat: Christian Halloween Resources on the Web
Are you wondering how (or if) you should take part in Halloween's annual quest for candy, or are you looking for ways to turn the year's spookiest night into an evangelism opportunity? Halloween resources and tips specifically designed to address this "dark" holiday from a spiritual perspective can be found at http://www.gospelcom.net/content/halloween/. Also keep an eye out for a Halloween tract display at the Friedens Welcome Center.
Twentysomethings Struggle to Find Their Place in Church
Adults in their 20s make decisions about everything from education to marriage, from career to kids. Their faith practices and spiritual priorities are also established during the formative years spanning ages 20 to 29. A new report from the Barna Research Group, a California-based church research organization, reveals more about the faith journeys of America's twenty-somethings, including: · Church attendance, giving to churches, Bible reading, and personal prayer · Overall commitment levels to Christianity and views of religion's importance · Participation in leadership within local congregations - and their perceived leadership ability. The full report provides greater detail regarding the ways that Twenty-somethings are redefining their own religious experiences and needs. To read the report visit www.barna.org.
Ten Objection to Christianity and How to Respond
Is this you? "Nobody can talk me out of being a Christian, but I can't talk anyone else into it. Can you help me?" The author of this article was an atheist who set out to prove Christianity was untrue. But during his investigation, he discovered overwhelming evidence that demonstrates the validity of Christianity. And because of a dedicated Christian who was prepared to answer his questions, his heart was reached. Are you prepared to answer the spiritual seekers in your world? Are you wondering if Christianity's really true? Here's a look at 10 objections skeptics pose toward Christianity-and how to respond: http://www.christianitytoday.com/biblestudies/areas/biblestudies/articles/tc w-2000-002-7.62.html
