September Preaching/Teaching Series

The 4-part series is about "Taking & Giving". We'll see God's wisdom as He calls us to "Take Inventory" of our spiritual and material blessings - who we are, what we are, and what we have in Christ. We'll be challenged to "Take Responsibility" for the life we have in Christ. We'll learn about "Giving Back" - the joy of investing in the work God is doing. And we'll examine "Giving Up" - submission and surrender to God's will for our lives - a truly liberating experience! There's something for all of us to learn and apply to our lives.

Mark Voll, Senior Pastor

Jump In, The Water's Fine

Last Sunday, classes for adults and children got under way. If you missed them, don't worry. You can still get involved. Check out the class synopses on the information table in Memorial Hall or call the church office for more information.

There are midweek offerings too. For children, AWANA meets on Wednesday nights. For adults, there's a women's Bible study on Thursday morning, a Christian Recovery group on Tuesday evenings for those recovering from addictive behaviors, and choir and worship team practice on Thursday nights. For teenagers, there is a Tuesday night Bible study and Sunday night fellowship. Call the church office for more information.

Happy Annivesary

A planning meeting for Friedens' 150th anniversary next year will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church. If you'd like to help, just show up or call the church office.

Are You a Good Person?

Good enough to go to Heaven? If you're not sure, check out this website from Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron, livingwaters.com, and click on the tab, "Are You a Good Person?"

In The World, Not Of The World

It's only natural for people to be creative, since we are created in the image of God, the great Creator. And the creativity of humankind shows up in our culture -- music, film, television, art. And often the needs of the human spirit, which can only be satisified by Christ, are expressed through those media. And why should we bother to understand to understand pop culture? Author Denis Haack offers four reasons why at http://www.ransomfellowship.org/D_202.html. Other resources that connect modern culture to the Christian message include Britian-based Damaris at http://www.damaris.org/ and Relevant Magazine at http://www.relevantmagazine.com/.

Test Your Bible Knowledge

This website offers lots of biblical trivia tests. http://www.funtrivia.com/dir/1892.html

Dealing With Disappointment

Do you feel like God has let you down? Have you "lost touch" with Him after a disappointment or a tragedy? Oliver Price of the Bible Prayer Fellowship encourages disappointed Christians to re-evaluate the character of God in light of what the Bible teaches us, and to take comfort in the ultimate wisdom of God. http://www.gospelcom.net/bpf/docs/disappointment.shtml
