Trusting In The Lord
At the congregational meetings last weekend, Mark Kato was overwhelmingly affirmed as our new Associate Pastor for Youth & Children's Ministry. The Lord directed his steps and those of our Search Committee, Council, and members to bring us to this important decision. That's what we prayed for should we be surprised God answered? I don't think so!
Now, in addition to affirming the call of Mark Kato to our church's fulltime staff, the voting members also agreed to allow Sue and I to purchase a home and for Mark & Cathy Kato to live in the Harrison St. parsonage. Sue and I have been seeking God's wisdom about this and we're asking Him to once again direct our path. He's proven His desire to lead - pray that we will see the path He sets before us and respond in faith and gratitude. Thanks Friedens family!

New Youth Director Approved
Last Sunday the congregation overwhelmingly approved the hiring of Mark Kato as Friedens' new director of youth and children's ministries. Stay tuned for news about when Mark and his wife, Cathy, and their daughter Hannah, will arrive and be installed as members of the Friedens family. All those involved in the selection process feel that God was leading them toward Mark. That should give us all confidence that God is going to do great things through them at Friedens.
Do you wanna AWANA?
Get signed up for the new AWANA season. Sign-up sheets are at the information table in Memorial Hall. Or call the church office at 284-2471 for information on enrolling or to volunteer as a helper.
Got Class?
Speaking of the information table, stop by after Sunday service to sign up for adult education classes. Also, lots of things are happening with the church youth group. If you're a teenager or know one, call the church office to get the scoop on what's happening.
Don't Forget
This Sunday there will be a believers baptism service at the Port Washington community pool immediately following the morning worship service. For more information, call Pastor Don at church.
Be An Encourager
We're commanded to encourage members of God's family on a daily basis. Some good candidates are those who labor to serve others -- Sunday school teachers, youth leaders, pastors, church secretaries, custodians and staff. Give it some thought.
Survey Says
A survey of people who do not attend church shows that almost two-thirds of them say they would attend a church if a friend invited them. Do you have a friend, relative, neighbor or co-worker who might attend church if you invited them? To help you do just that, grab a "Tract Pack" at the church information table. Each pack contains five Gospel pamphlets that explain clearly what Jesus did for each of us, plus five Friedens business cards - enough for one week -- that include church times, address and website. Grab a pack this Sunday.
Jesus Speaks Arabic
Of all the world's languages, the Internet language with most downloads of the Bible is Arabic, according to Arab World Ministries. And although you can download the 'Jesus' film in any language, the most popular demand is for the Arabic version.

The Last Word
A lot of church members who are singing "Standing on the Promises" are just sitting on the premises.
