Eternal Easter!
There are some special days and celebrations I wish lasted longer (others I am only too glad to see end!) Thanks be to God that the celebration of Jesus' death and resurrection isn't just for Easter anymore! If there's one thing we as Christians ought to celebrate EACH DAY it's the awesome, liberating, reconciling, life-giving power of the resurrection! We can do with fewer chocolate bunnies, and ham every once in a while is great - but let's not pack away, with the plastic grass and baskets, the joy of our salvation! Pastor Mark
Have You Heard?
The new summer schedule has been announced. Worship services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturdays and 9 a.m. on Sundays from June 1 through Aug. 31. There will be no Sunday school classes for children, but there will be nursery. Also, stay tuned for more information on upcoming mid-week summer classes.
Friedens Flyover Ready For Takeoff
If you or someone you know want more information on Friedens Church and how to become a member, plan on attending the next Friedens Flyover beginning this Sunday, May 4 at 9:15 a.m. in the pastor's study. The four-week discussion group will be led by Pastor Mark.
Improve Your Serve
In God's economy, the greatest people aren't those who are served, but those who serve (Matthew 20:25-28). Here's your chance to become great in the Kingdom of God:
- Because of the recent Easter outreach, Friedens has some new ongoing mini-ministries for which volunteers are needed. These include people to deliver "thanks-for-attending" cookie bags to first-time visitors; "Look Outs" who look out for and welcome newcomers at the door; information table tenders; response-card managers and more. Each job is divided into bite-size pieces so no one's time is overtaxed. If interested or just curious, call Dan Benson at 268-0755.
- With the new summer worship schedule, nursery volunteers are needed for Saturday night and Sunday morning services. Call Lori Kelly at 284-1753.
- Greeters and ushers also are always needed. Contact Lisa Krier at 284-0584.
- Teachers are still needed to help out with Vacation Bible School this June. It's one of Friedens' most popular and influential ministries. If you can spare even a few morning hours, call the church office at 284-2471.
Summer Trip Plans
Mark your calendar for some exciting summer outreach opportunities. Perhaps God wants you to get involved:
- June 16-20: Some youth from Friedens, Louisa, Ky., Iowa and other places will join together in Milwaukee and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for a week of training in evangelism and outreach. Adults are welcome too. Call Dan Benson, 268-0755.
- July 20-25: High school-age youth from Friedens will make a youth mission trip to Leech Lake, Minn. Still time to sign-up, but hurry. Call Marci Ferrell at 375-1009.
- Aug. 2-9: A group of adults will again visit eastern Kentucky to help a church there reach out to its neighbors. For more information, call Doug Ferrell at 375-1009.
- Aug. 4-14: John Schuette will join some saints from that same Kentucky church for a short-term mission trip to Romania. There's room for more. Call John at 284-1072.
Prayer Works
Thursday, May 1, is the National Day of Prayer. Plan on attending the Community Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Thomas Jefferson Middle School cafeteria in Port Washington. If you can't make it, pray for our country, our president, our church and those who remain in their sin and are facing an eternity apart from God.
It's Your Business
Some new church business cards have been printed and have on them times for worship services, the church address, phone number and website. They're an easy reference tool for people who may be looking for a church home. Take some to give to friends, neighbors and acquaintances. You can find them on the information table, along with a variety of Gospel tracts.

Experience God
Do you want to learn to hear when God is speaking to you, find out where God is working and join Him, experience God doing through you what only God can do? If so, join Pastor David Maynard from First Baptist Church in Louisa, Ky., on May 16 and 17 as he hosts an "Experiencing God Weekend" See the sign-up sheet in the lobby.
Mother's Day
Plan on attending services on Mother's Day, May 11. Every woman will receive a red rose. The roses are being purchased by the church to raise funds for pro-life activities in Wisconsin.
Perk Up Your Friendships
The Women's Fellowship ministry is holding a "Coffee Break" for women in the church and the community from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on May 6 at the church. It's a great opportunity to get to invite old friends and make new friends. For more information, brochures are available on the information table or call Deb Bendt at 284-5499.
