Homecoming
We're getting set to hold our first services in the sanctuary this Sunday since the July 8, 2002 fire that caused about 1 million dollars in damage. It has been exciting and there are so many people to thank. But most importantly, when we cried out to God for peace, for vision, for guidance, for strength, for unity, for protection, for resources HE SUPPLIED IT ALL! (Like we should be surprised.) He said He would answer prayers consistent with His will He did! May God receive the glory and praise for this homecoming celebration! Pastor Mark
And Another Homecoming
We were shocked to receive a call this morning that Eunice Bartelt (Herbert) died suddenly. Eunice was very active in women's ministries especially helping in the kitchen for funeral lunches, church dinners, potlucks, VBS and more. She will be greatly missed. We'll let you know more about funeral arrangements when we are informed.
Shaking ...
Shaking with excitement that is, as we prepare to move back into the sanctuary this Palm Sunday and prepare for an influx of visitors on Easter. That's why it's important to come together at 8 a.m. this Saturday to spend about an hour to prayerfully commit our Easter outreach to the Lord. Join us, won't you? The EASTER OUTREACH mailing went out late Monday.
- The Evangelism Committee will meet at 8 p.m. this Thursday to finalize plans for the Easter outreach. If you want to get involved, that's an excellent meeting to attend. Call Dan Benson at 268-0755 for more information. Some committee members will get together at 7 p.m. to put together Welcome Packets for the outreach. You're welcome there too.
- A large crowd is expected on Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday. Try to attend the early services 8 a.m. on Palm Sunday and 7 a.m. on Easter to alleviate crowding at the later services.
...And Baking
Two cookie baking parties are scheduled this week: 9 a.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. Saturday morning (right after the Prayer Party!). These cookies will be delivered as a thank-you gift to Friedens visitors. Call Marci Ferrell for more information at 375-1009.
Improve Your Serve
- Speaking of delivering cookies, volunteers are needed to do just that. You can call Marci for more information about that too.
- Van drivers to pick up and drop off churchgoers are needed for Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday. If you have a valid driver's license and a smile, you're qualified. Please call Ray Schwinn at 284-5464 to sign up.
- Can you shake a hand and smile at the same time. Then you're qualified to be a greeter or usher. Call Lisa Krier at 284-0854 to enlist.
Recovery Group Meets
Have you or someone you know been a victim of addictive behaviors. Friedens members Lee and Dyane Sloane are leading a Christian Recovery Group for people like you at 8 p.m. each Tuesday. Call Lee and Dyane at (262) 387-1526 for more information.
Easter Lilies To Order
Orders for Easter lilies are due next Sunday, April 13. The cost is $8.95 per plant. Complete the form in the Sunday bulletin to order.
Be An Encourager
In Hebrews 3:13 we're commanded to encourage each other on a daily basis. Have you encouraged anyone today? Some good candidates are those having birthdays or anniversaries this week. Birthday boys and girls include Betty Toeller, Evelyn Schuh, Max Kelly, Karen Searles, Greg Hess, Joel Mentzel, Chris Rowen, Adam Pasbrig, Mackenzie Breimon, Emily Mueller, Jacob Schuette and Robert Neising. Couples celebrating anniversaries are Gary and Julie Winkelhorst and Rick and Cindy Kornely.
Food Pantry Needs
The Food Pantry needs cereal, soup, cooking oil, detergent and cash donations to purchase hams and fresh vegetables for Easter.Donations can be made at the church. If you know someone who needs help, contact Pastor Mark at 284-2471 and he will put you in touch with the Food Pantry staff.
Relatively Speaking
Truth is always relative to people and their situations, say adults by a 3-to-1 margin (64% vs. 22%), according to Barna Research. People were asked if they believe moral absolutes are unchanging or are they relative to circumstances. The perspective was more lopsided among teenagers, 83% claiming moral truth depends on circumstances, and only 6% saying moral truth is absolute. The surveys also asked how people make their moral and ethical decisions. By far the most common basis was doing whatever feels right or comfortable.
