Message from Pastor Mark

It’s a wonderful kind of busy around here this week: audio and visual installations, new hymnals arrived, new piano tomorrow, pews, chairs, pulpit on Wednesday, electrician finishing up things in the kitchen, carpenter’s last details, cleaning to be done and other preparations for our first services back in the sanctuary – and then there’s worship to plan. I’m not complaining….this is a WONDERFUL kind of busy! It’s the Lord’s work – it has eternal value and significance. When you look at the busy-ness of your life does it have godly significance – is it a wonderful kind of busy? Maybe a review of your busy life is needed. I know I have to do that, too. I don’t want to be busy and yet not accomplishing much. Let’s pray more and more that our busy lives have eternal value and give glory to God!

Also from Pastor Mark

Dawn Monroe-Uselding, a member of the church, was recently diagnosed with cancer. She and her husband have decided to pursue non-traditional treatment in Mexico rather treatment here. To help with the costs, which are not covered by insurance, a fund has been set up at a local bank. Recently, a letter asking for donations was sent out to people listed in the church directory. The letter does not come from the church office and we do not, as a matter of policy, authorize the use of the church directory for private mailings, businesses or fund-raisers. We apologize if anyone was upset by this mailing.

Let Us Pray

Join us to kick off Easter Week at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at the church to get together for a time of sharing and prayer. This Easter, Friedens Church is launching the biggest outreach it has ever attempted. We are mailing 10,000 invitations to residents of northern Ozaukee County and getting lots of attention because of the sanctuary reopening. We also are putting in place programs to help assimilate visitors these efforts are likely to attract. But the success of these efforts and the impact they will have on people's lives is up to the Lord. Let us beseech the Lord of the Harvest together. Refreshments will be available.

Driven to Serve?

Speaking of Easter, people are needed to be available to drive the church van or to ride shotgun before and after each of the three Easter services for people without transportation. Only requirements are a valid drives license and a smile. If you're available, please call Ray Schwinn at 284-5464.

Tell a Friend

Speaking of Easter again, Easter is one of two holidays each year (the other being Christmas) when people who normally don't go to church decide to attend services. It's a great opportunity to invite a friend, neighbor, relative or co-worker to church and perhaps make a difference in their life. To help, invitations to Friedens Easter services are available on the church information table. Take as many as you need. While there, check out the array of Gospel tracts also available.

Lights, Camera, BLAZE

BLAZE, the Friedens teen group, will have a movie/pizza/ice cream night from 7 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, April 5th, at the church. The evening is free. Bring a friend!

Easter Lilies, Memorials

Orders for Easter lilies will be accepted until April 13, Palm Sunday. The cost is $8.95. You can send a check to the church, 454 N. Milwaukee St., Port Washington, 53074. You also can obtain a form during Sunday services. Please be sure to include your name, who the purchase is in honor of or in memory of. Clearly mark your check for "Easter Lilies." You also can contribute a memorial to honor someone. Memorial funds will be used for new choir robes and other needs.

Improve Your Serve

On a Mission

For the second year in a row, Friedens is sponsoring a short-term mission trip to Kentucky this summer. A meeting will be held between services at 9:15 a.m. next Sunday, April 6, in Pastor Mark's office to discuss the trip.

Reaching the Arabs

Arab World Ministries, which is dedicated to propagating the Gospel among Arabs worldwide, has prepared an information sheet along with "Points for Prayer" on the Iraqi conflict. At AWM's website, you also can find info about Muslim beliefs and other AWM efforts. Log onto: Prayer for Iraq.
