2001 BLAZE Youth Ministry Annual Report
Blaze Youth Ministries invites you to explore the many opportunities and exciting areas for involvement. We trust that teenagers will grow in their relationship with God as they participate in Blaze. Our Jr. and Sr. High ministries offer students an exciting variety of opportunities to grow in Christ and develop meaningful relationships with adult youth staff, and with other youth at their age level.
"Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity."
Hebrews 6:1
Blaze Mission Statement "To Make Fully Devoted Followers of Jesus Christ"
To achieve this mission statement, we offer a balanced approach to ministry through winning, building, and equipping. In doing so we minister spiritually on an individual level.
- WIN teens for Christ
- BUILD them up in their faith in Christ; and
- EQUIP them to go and serve Christ.
Outreach Nights (WINNING) Outreach nights are meant for teens to invite their friends to an event that is non-threatening yet creative. Our purpose for introducing teenagers to our youth ministry is that they would ultimately be introduced to Christ.
- Sr. High outreach nights are the first Sunday night in the month from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.
- Jr. High outreach night is the first Tuesday night in the month from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.
We strongly encourage students to bring their friends on these nights, because it is an easy way for them to introduce their friends to Christ. Other outreach type events include: retreats, lock-ins, sporting events, and similar activities.
Growth Nights (BUILDING) Blaze growth nights build teens up in the Lord as Hebrews 6:1 says. A growth night consists of a theme such as foregiveness, followed by small groups called "Action Teams." Students discuss the theme in their action teams and look into scripture to see what God says about the topic. We have games, music, videos, etc. on Growth Nights as well. Other growth events could be a missions trip, service projects, retreats, student ministry within the church, etc.
Sunday Morning Opportunities (BUILDING) Sunday Morning from 9:15 to 10:15 is another time when teens get into God's Word. This is definitely a "building" time. We have a Jr. and Sr. High School Sunday school led by teachers who care a lot about the spiritual nurture of teens in today's society. The students come together to discuss and discover Biblical truths and apply those truths in their own lives. A book of the Bible may be studied, or topical issues may be examined.
S.A.L.T. (EQUIPPING) S.A.L.T. stands for Student Action Leadership Team. Through SALT we want to equip our teens to share in the work of ministry. SALT is made up of High School students who display and have a desire for reaching their friends for Christ. It is equipping them with attitudes, knowledge, and skills needed to share their faith and/or serve in a ministry. Equipping activities would include retreats, planning with youth staff, leading Jr. High action teams, etc.
- Please Note: There is an application and interview process to be involved in S.A.L.T.
