On
a hot summer day in August we were treated to the outstanding music
of the One Way Steel Drum Gospel Orchestra of Trinidad & Tobago.
Making their third appearance in as many years, these talented musicians
shared both their music and their strong Christian witness.
Founded
in August of 2000, One-Way Evangelistic Ministries is a multifaceted
international outreach ministry. The three major methods of our outreach
include itinerant speaking, short-term international missions trips,
and hosting steelpan gospel missionary music teams from the Caribbean.
Evangelist, Jerry Singh, founder and director of One-way Evangelistic
Ministries travels in the United States, the Caribbean, and South America
sharing his testimony and the gospel of Jesus Christ. He speaks at churches,
camps, revivals, missions conferences, evangelistic trainings, youth
rallies, schools, nursing homes, prisons, detention homes, street meetings
and crusades.
Guyana,
South America and Trinidad, West Indies are the target countries for
this year's short term international mission outreach. A team of about
20 individuals are currently training in Wyoming to venture out on May
28th for this three week mission endeavor. The international mission
trip is designed to be evangelistic in nature: all activities will either
be directly or support evangelistic work. Primary activities will include
crusades, street meetings, door-to-door witnessing, school presentations,
local church support, orphanage visitations, and jail ministries.
Steelpan gospel missionary music teams also tour through out the United
States under the management and direction of One-way Evangelistic Ministries.
The steelpan, indigenous to Trinidad and Tobago (West Indies), provides
a unique platform from which to share the gospel message. The history
of the steelpan drum intrigues audiences, as the instruments are actually
made from 55 gallon oil drums (originally discarded into the ocean off
the coast of Trinidad and Tobago by the U.S. military during W.W.II).
These interactive programs are presented in churches, schools, nursing
homes, camps, prisons, parades, and community events.
The Personal Testimony of Jerry Singh
Evangelist, Founder and Director of
ONE-WAY EVANGELISTIC MINISTRIES
Descending
from a long line of Brahmin priests and gurus, groomed in the ways of
Hinduism and destined to become a leader in the traditional priesthood
was supposedly my "karma" or purpose in life. After many years of disillusionment,
my struggle for meaning in life came to an abrupt end. At the age of
14, I was introduced to the Lord Jesus Christ, the world's only savior.
As a result of trusting Christ as my savior I became an outcast by my
community, faced religious persecution by my Hinduism to Christ family
and I experienced abandonment by being thrown into the streets because
I had brought great shame and insult to Hinduism.
Within God's sovereign purpose, this seeming tragedy brought great
triumph. I have since been accepted back into my family and have experienced
the joy of seeing them won to Christ.
After graduating from the University of the West Indies I realized
the Lord's calling into full-time Christian service. This led me to
the United States for specialized training. In 1992 I graduated from
New Tribes Bible Institute in Jackson, Michigan; and 1994 completed
the New Tribes Missionary Training Program in Fredonia, Wisconsin. During
this time I met my wife, Kathy.
We served the Lord as missionaries with Frontier School of the Bible
in LaGrange, Wyoming for 5 1/2 years. I was an instructor and involved
in public relations as the school represen tative and travelling evangelist.
During this time the Lord blessed our marriage with the addition of
our three children: Daniel (5), Rebekah (3) and Isaiah (1).
The Birth of One-Way Evangelistic Ministries
The Lord also used this time to instill the vision of One-Way Evangelistic
Ministries into my heart: it is our mission
to present the Lord Jesus Christ as the world's only savior, exclusively,
unequivocally and uncompromisingly. The premise of this ministry
is structured upon John 14:6, Jesus
said unto him, "I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh
unto the Father, but by me." Three methods we incorporate to
accomplish this mission are itinerate speaking, short-term international
mission trips, and facilitating U.S. evangelistic music tours with steelpan
gospel missionary music teams from my homeland, Trinidad & Tobago.
I would welcome the opportunity to minister with you. Please write
