Greg Buchanan's Story
I grew up in Southern California, and started playing the harp at age nine. Everyone in my family was musical, so I had a lot of direction in music. Even though I had success at the harp, my life was filled with sin. It led to an early life of alcoholism, drug use, and depravity. After brief stays in mental institutions, county jails, and involvement in destructive relationships, I was at the end of my rope, and suicidal. But thanks be to God for a praying Grandmother who planted the seeds of the gospel in my life when I was a boy. Her prayers were finally answered in 1981, when I was invited to a meeting where they were using music to glorify God. The scripture says in Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." I knew I was a sinner! The Bible also says, "If you confess with your mouth, the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9 and 10:10. And that night, I dared to believe what my Grandmother told me as a child, that Jesus died on the cross for sinners and was raised from the dead by the power of God. That night I was saved.
Even though I still had to face many struggles and hurts, I was dramatically changed. The Lord delivered me from that life of alcoholism, drugs, and depravity. Now I play the harp for the glory of God and desire to live for Him!
