2002 AWANA Children's Ministry Report

Friedens Church AWANA Club is a Bible-based, Christ centered program committed to ministering to God's boys andgirls ages 3 thru 6th grade. AWANA Club meets weekly on Wed. nights from Sept. to May.

With the Lord's help and some awesome adult and youth leaders, we have entered into our year of AWANA. We congratulate the leaders who have been with this club since it started, encourage those that have followed in their footsteps, and bless all our new leaders who joined us this past year. Special praise goes out to our youth leaders, some of who were AWANA clubbers themselves, and those that participate in the Blaze youth ministry. They faithfully attend each week to assist and support our AWANA leaders and have a great time helping with the kids.

Due to the fire last year, our leaders have had to be exceptionally creative, and the children have been extremely patient working around the reconstruction that has occurred. At the beginning of the year a popular question among the leaders was "where are we going to put all these kids?"

We found out that the Lord will always find room for those who seek Him. September started out rather cozy, but as the months went by, even the dust and construction didn't keep us from finding room, and the children kept coming back to AWANA. Thanks to the cleaning staff, and others, who helped in maintaining a clean and safe building to allow us to continue this children's ministry.

We did happen to lose a few children who found out that we were unable to have a very exciting part of AWANA, which is called Gametime. One young boy said, "No Games! I'm outta here!" But, we have had many new faces join our club with an appetite for the Word of God. Or, maybe it's the wonderful snacks that our leaders provide to the kids.

One Wednesday night, I was thrilled to help out with the 5-6th grade girls, and when I asked them to help plan the night, the first question they asked me was, "what are you going to feed us?" Well, they did not go home hungry.

Our leaders and youth helpers continue to impact the lives of these children with this AWANA program. Awards are given out on a weekly basis for achievements in Bible memorization and attendance. The leaders also plan special activities and theme nights, which the clubbers love to participate in. Some of the special nights consisted of: Crazy Hair Night, Thank, you for the Harvest Night, Honor Our Veteran's Night, the ever popular... Measles Night, Fishing Fun Night, Crazy Socks Night, a leaders favorite ... Silent Night, and we enjoyed a very special Happy Birthday Jesus Night.

Don't miss out on some of the nights we have planned for 2003! Bring A Buddy Night, Puzzle Scavenger Hunt, Make Me a Servant Night, Patriot Night, a sweet Valentines Party, Prayer Night, Twinkies Night, and many more.

We have a brand new program introduced to us this year called T&T, (Truth and Training – The Ultimate Adventure). The new program reflects the passion of AWANA to teach 3rd – 6th grade boys and girls the truth of God's Word and to train them to follow Christ in their daily lives. With new handbooks, t-shirts and songs, the clubbers are enjoying the gospel message from the Old and New testaments, and just having a lot of gut-busting fun.

Our AWANA leaders have a goal in this ministry, to reach these young people and get them excited about God's Word, and train them today to serve Him and to become tomorrow's church leaders. Pray that God will continue to help our children and leaders grow, for His glory, in the year ahead.
