2001 Annual Meeting Minutes
Friedens Church January 21,2001 6:30 p.m.
Call to Order
Ray Schwinn called the Annual Meeting to order.
Opening Prayer Associate Pastor Matt Mackellar
Review of the Minutes of the 2000 Congregational Meetings
Discussion on Minutes of last year's meetings was requested; having none a motion to accept minutes of the 2000 meetings was requested.
Motion to accept minutes of the 2000 meetings as presented was made by Terry DuMez, second by Ed Kohn. Motion was passed unanimously.
Presentation of the 2000 Financial Report
Jeanne Maciejewski presented the Financial Report for 2000.
Discussion on the report was requested; having questions the following items were addressed.
A. G. Edwards, investments not listed in printout.
Items listed as over budget detailed:
Insurance Premium increases.
FICA.
Property & Casualty Insurance.
Telephone.
Sewer & Water.
Snow removal.
Equipment, Boiler repair, sound system & organ.
Miscellaneous, Appreciation gift, Choir lunch.
Current Organ installed in 1913, Doris Schlenvogt questioned the Organ fund and possible piano repair.
Page 7 of Expenses was duplicated; missing page handed out at meeting and will be included in the final mailing.
Motion to accept 2000 Financial report with changes as noted was requested.
Motion to accept 2000 Financial report with changes was made by Kevin Grady, second by Gary Mueller.
Old Business
No Old Business was outstanding.
New Business
Remarks by Pastor Mark.
Plans for Adult spiritual education and fellowship.
Mortgage on Cedar Court parsonage paid in 27 months vs. 15 years.
Strategic planning underway as we near 150 years.
Development of excellent Children's education programs.
Outreach to Community programs, known as a warm and friendly church.
Clear message from God of love and grace.
Pastor Mark presented Ray Schwinn a special recognition.
Remarks by Pastor Matt
We are all Servants of God, with a vision of honoring God.
Special recognition for the work that has been done by the Church Council.
Future planning for Adult Sunday school.
Additional demands and requirements as ministries continue to grow.
Challenge is to add depth and quality in ministries.
Lack of sufficient leaders.

Offered a thank you to Mark & Matt for their leadership and guidance.
Offered a thank you for the appreciation gift.
Rose Morgan presented the Proposed 2001 Budget
Discussion on the budget proposal was requested; with the following items addressed.
Major line item differences, identified and discussed.
Question by Ed Kohn regarding the amount budgeted for Natural Gas.
Question by Roger Bolz regarding ADT monitoring. Mark explained Fire Alarm system. A Sprinkler or Alarm system is required.
Question by Sandy Hughes regarding the age of our Current Boiler system and monies spent on repair. Mark explained the maintenance was to upgrade controls.
Question by Lila Kohn as to how Mission funds are distributed. Mission committee recommends funds and Church council provides approval.
Question by John Schuette regarding acquiring a 15 passenger Church van.
Motion to accept proposed 2001 budget was requested.
Motion to accept was made by Jeanne Maciejewski, second by Roger Bolz.
Motion was passed unanimously.
Bill Pasbrig presented nominees for Committees and Church Council
Church Council
Phil Block and Mike Toeller.
Evangelism
Roger Bolz.
Missions
Nancy Grady.
Request for nominations from the floor was made; having none a motion to close nominations was requested.
Motion to close nominations for Deacon/Deaconess was made by Jeanne Maciejewski, second by Dorothy Yurske.
Motion to close nominations for Evangelism Committee was made by Lila Kohn, second by Terry DuMez.
Motion to close nominations for Missions Committee was made by Dorothy Yurske, second by John Schuette.
All motions were passed unanimously.
A motion to accept nominations as presented was requested.
Motion to accept as nominated was made by Rose Morgan, second by Gary Schlenvogt.
Motion was passed unanimously.
Dave Sather presented a Strategic Planning update
Review of tasks and accomplishments.
This is an important step in planning for long-term church activity.
Review of vision, values and purpose.
Next meeting scheduled for 02/10/01 from 9:00 am. - 12:00 p.m., with purpose and mission to be reviewed.
The word, love and purpose of God will not change.
Review of Library/Office remodeling.
Has been an item of discussion for about 1 year, regarding alternatives.
Proposal is to separate with a permanent wall, with the south section to be used for Matt's office and the north section to be used for Library.
Litha Mueller questioned use of Matt's current office.
Nancy Grady questioned use of Choir room.
The approximate cost of the remodeling is $5000.00, with the cost to be funded by a donation.
Dave Sather questioned the location switch.
Matt will be closer to Mark, with additional visibility and accountability.
A motion to proceed with remodeling was requested.
Motion to proceed was made by Rose Morgan, second by Gary Schlenvogt.
Motion was passed unanimously.
The Church Council at the next Council meeting will appoint Church Vice President and Council Secretary.
Nominations from the floor for Congregation President, to be selected from eligible members, were requested. A Congregation vote will be scheduled in two weeks.
Eligible members (Deacons and Elders) were identified.
Ed Kohn nominated Ray Schwinn.
Motion to close nominations was requested.
Motion to close was made by Walter Schaefer, second by Julius Bendt.
Motion was amended to elect Ray Schwinn as Congregation President, thus eliminating the need for a Congregational vote.
Motion was passed unanimously.
Other New Business
A thank you to Gary Mueller and Randy Schreiner from the Congregation for their service on the Church Council.

Mark Voll, Senior Pastor gave the closing prayer.
