2001 Afternoon Women's Guild Report

The afternoon Women's guild was started in the 1870's. Though its focus has changed through the years, so has the name and faces of those who participate on a regular basis. It continues to be a God-serving asset to the church's mission.

Activities are held, typically, starting at 1:00 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month (excluding January, July, and August). Activities are held in Memorial Hall at the Church. All gatherings are open to all women of the extended Church family and their guests. Programs include devotions, singing, prayer time, a short program of interest, and light refreshments. In November we make a food drive and monetary offering to the Food Pantry; in December we donate to Interfaith Caregivers and contribute cookies to give to shut-ins. We have special guest speakers, communion, senior chorus, and end in June with a picnic.

To serve the mission of the Church, the afternoon Women's Guild sponsors the sending of weekly worship bulletins to shut-ins and others who might appreciate receiving it while recuperating or away from home. Another project is purchasing cases of Bibles for inmates at the Ozaukee county Jail. Monies for these projects are through monthly offerings and special projects or donations by attendees.

This year's officers heave been: Alice I. Rabenhorst, President; Edna Guenther, Treasurer; and Doris Noster, Secretary
