Adoption...Foster Care...Orphan Care

In 2010, Forever Families began as a fundraiser to assist local families in their adoption journey.  Recognizing that 99% of the world's orphans will never be adopted, Forever Families also began supporting orphan-care ministries in Ethiopia, China, Haiti, and Honduras.

In 2011, Forever Families expanded its scope with an Adoption 101 workshop.  This grew into the annual Adoption Connection event, which now has over 125 participants each year from throughout southeastern Wisconsin!  Forever Families also coordinates adoption support groups, because we recognize that the challenges of adoption don't end when the child comes home to their forever family.

Since 2010, Forever Families has raised $150,000, and 100% of the proceeds go to support adoption and orphan care.  Forever Families has distributed over 30 adoption grants and is dedicated to supporting families in all stages of the adoption journey, whether they are considering adoption, are currently in the process of adopting, or have adopted children in their home (or out of the home) and are looking for support, camaraderie, and resources.

Adoption Connection

Adoption Connection is for anyone who is interested in adopting, is in the adoption process, has adopted or foster children in the home, or anyone else who would like to learn about adoption and the unique aspects of parenting adopted children.

Two New Adoption Connection Events for 2019!

March 3 from 5-8pm (Parents Only)

All new this year - an evening exclusively for parents-only!  Instead of the traditional family potluck, we will have snacks at the beginning and dessert at the end, so if you can arrive earlier and/or stay late, you will have some additional time for connection and sharing.  We are super excited about speakers and breakout options for the event this year, and we are sure you will be excited too!  Here's the schedule:
  • 4:45-5:00 - Mingle time (snacks provided)
  • 5:00- 5:50 - Large-group speakers (including a psychologist with decades of trauma therapy experience and a seasoned trauma mamas)
  • 6:00 - 7:30 - Two rounds of breakout sessions. Topics include:  Trauma-Informed schools; For Dad's Only; Self-Care; Ozaukee County Services Panel; and more still in the works!
  • 7:30-8:00 - Dessert and mingle time

While the event officially ends at 8:00, the building will remain open for conversations and connections.

To RSVP to Adoption Connection or if you have questions, please contact the church office at 262-284-2471 or friedens@sbcglobal.net.

RSVPs are not required but help speakers know how much to print.  Also, feel free to invite friends!

There will be NO childcare or children's programming.  Line up your childcare soon, because you don't want to miss this night of connection!

Coming in June: An All-Family Adoption Connection Event

Tell your kiddos not to worry. An all-family event is planned for June.  Outdoors! At a park! We will have "9 Square In The Air," kickball, a playground, and so much more. The event will include a "snack-luck" (held in the afternoon between meals but everyone can bring munchies).  Parents will be able to mingle and still keep tabs on their own children.  We can't wait for this special day!  An official date has not been set yet, but we will keep you posted.

Super Saturday

Super Saturday is Forever Families' primary fundraiser and is hosted at Friedens Church each September.  This event includes a 5K Run/Walk, 2K Walk, Silent Auction, Bake Sale, Petting Zoo, and a "Kidja Warrior" Fun Course for children 10 and under.  It draws people from throughout southeastern Wisconsin and is an inspiring way to make a lasting difference in a child's life.

Super Saturday is held each September.

Thank you to Forever Families' sponsors and donors!

To fund adoption grants and the other aspects of Forever Families' ministry, we depend on the generous support of many community partners.  "Sponsors" are financial partners with Forever Families, and there are over 100 other businesses that contribute to the silent auction.  In addition, we are thankful for the hundreds of people who participate in Super Saturday, which enables Forever Families to help more children become a part of a "forever family."

Friedens' Heritage of Adoption & Foster Care

Many people look at the success of Forever Families and wonder how we got to where we are.  Well, the story goes back much further than 2010, which is when Forever Families officially began.  For several decades, God has been working in Friedens Church to build a culture

that values adoption, foster care, and orphan care.  For instance:

  • Pastor Brandon is the third straight Senior Pastor of Friedens whose family has adopted children (these pastorates date back to the 1960s).
  • There are at least 20 families currently involved at Friedens who have adoption and/or foster care as part of their family's story.
  • Families at Friedens have been active in foster care since the 1970s; one family in particular has provided foster care for over 100 children.  This passion for foster care has been contagious, and altogether, Friedens families have fostered over 170 children!
As you can see, the seeds for Forever Families have been growing for decades, and we're excited to see what God continues to do through the Forever Families ministry - not only to help create forever families through adoption, and not only to help children in need both locally and globally, but also to help people experience adoption into God's "forever family" through faith in Jesus (John 1:12).
