Friedens' Ministry to Children & Teens

At Friedens, we take seriously Jesus' call to "let the little children come to me."  And as children grow into adolescence, we are dedicated to helping them "own" their faith so they will grow into men and women who follow Jesus throughout their lives.

As part of Friedens' "Discipleship Pathway," we have identified specific age-appropriate topics and goals for the spiritual development of children and teens, which are built into the structures of our ministries. In addition to ministries specifically geared for children and teens, we seek to equip parents to intentionally disciple their children.

Ongoing Ministries for Children & Teens

  • Sunday School

    Resumes September 8, 2019!

    Children & Youth

    Sundays from 9:25-10:15am

    • There are Sunday-School classes for the following age groups: age 2-3K; 4K-5K; 1st-3rd grade; 4th-6th grade; 7th-8th grade; and 9th-12th grade.
    • 4K-8th grade all study a curriculum called "Gospel Story," which walks through the entire Bible in a multi-year cycle; each class using the "Gospel Story" curriculum studies the same Bible stories at appropriate age/learning levels.  Classes also include age-appropriate games, crafts, and activities.
    • The 9th-12th grade class studies a curriculum called "God's Unfolding Kingdom," which provides an in-depth look at the storylines and books of the Old Testament in order to increase students' "biblical literacy" and their passion & confidence in Scripture.

  • iGnite Children's Ministry

    Resumes September 11, 2019!

    Wednesdays from 6:15-7:30pm

    For children in 4K-4th grade

iGnite highlights Scripture memory and includes a wide variety of activities and fun.  What does a typical night look like at iGnite?

    • Children participate in an opening that includes fun music for singing and dancing.
    • Children are then divided into two groups, or “crews” (4K-1st grade & 2nd-4th grade).  Each crew has two crew leaders who will take their crew to three stations (20 minutes each).  These stations are: Lesson Time, Games, and Crew Time.
    • At Lesson Time, children learn a new Bible memory verse through fun and interactive teaching.
    • At the Games station, children participate in age-appropriate games and activities that get them up and moving! They’ll learn to work together and take turns!
    • At Crew Time, students enjoy a healthy snack, chat with their friends and crew leaders, and pray. We focus on teaching children how to pray and encourage them to pray together.
    • Themes: Every Wednesday night has a different theme your children can participate in.  Theme nights are completely optional!
    • Store Nights: Approximately once a month, we open up the "iGnite Store" for children to spend the tokens they receive during iGnite. On these nights, your child will probably come home with a prize(s).  We also encourage children to use their tokens to buy items for Operation Christmas Child. This teaches children the value in saving and giving for children less fortunate.

If you've never been to iGnite before, you can simply show up (registration starts at 6:10pm), and there are computers you can use to register your children!

  • Youth Group

    Resumes September 11, 2019!

    Wednesdays from 6:15-8:00pm

    For 5th-12th graders

Friedens' youth group focuses on: 1) building camaraderie and community among 5th-12th graders, and 2) increasing their passion and dedication to Christ.  Each night starts with fun activities to help students laugh and connect.  Then there is a short devotional that relates biblical truth to the students' lives.  After the devotional, students divide into smaller groups by age and gender, and leaders guide a discussion and Bible study about applying the topic of the devotional to their lives.  The groups also have the opportunity to pray for one another.  There are also snacks every week.  At the end of each evening, there is a fun large-group activity/game.  Our hope is that, on every Wednesday night, every student laughs, learns, and connects.  Guests are always welcome to show up!
