Rapid Deployment Kits for Iraq

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

Friedens’ Missions Committee is raising funds to send “Rapid Deployment Kits” to U.S. troops in Iraq through Campus Crusade for Christ. Each RDK includes a New Testament, a devotional and an evangelistic booklet. It takes $3.25 for each RDK. Campus Crusade’s military ministry receives requests for 15,000 to 20,000 RDKs each month. The RDKs are distributed through Campus Crusade’s network of military chaplains. Please make a check payable to Friedens Church and include “For RDK” in the message line. Or you can go directly to Campus Crusade’s RDK site by clicking HERE to gain more information or to make a donation.

My Sister’s House

Monday, February 12th, 2007

“My Sister’s House,” a transitional housing project for women suffering from addiction and other problems who are trying to put their lives back together, is up and running with one woman currently living at the home in Port Washington and another to soon join her. Friedens members Dawn Uselding and Alston Cole are the driving forces behind the creation of this project, having grown out of Alston’s and Dawn’s service to women in the Ozaukee County Jail where they lead Alcoholics Anonymous and Bible study groups. The project is currently in a fundraising phase. If you’d like to help financially, be part of a prayer network or help in other ways, please send Dawn an e-mail at anewdawnservices@live.com.

Friedens sponsors several groups and classes for women. For a complete listing, check out the Small Groups and Classes page under the “Ministries” tab.

In addition, Friedens also sponsors a Christian Recovery discussion group for those suffering from addictions. It meets at 8 p.m. on Thursdays and is led by Lee and Dyane Sloane. For more information, call (262) 339-9461.

    Shut-in Visitation Team

    Sunday, October 29th, 2006

nursing home.jpg Join the Friedens Visitation Team, which visits those in Ozaukee, Washington and Sheboygan counties who live in nursing homes or have trouble getting out of their homes. Besides just visiting, they engage in Bible readings, prayer, sometimes sharing communion and otherwise serving them in anyway they can. Friedens also has a compassion ministry for men who make themselves available to do odd jobs and home repairs for the elderly, single moms and others who need help. If you’re interested in being part of this fellowship, or need help or know someone who does, call the church at 284-2471.
